One or more of the following techniques may be used during a "Muscle
Therapy Session":
Active Isolated Stretching and Strengthening (AIS) - Aaron Mattes
(kinesiologist) developed The Mattes Method of Active Isolated
Stretching. The "Mattes Method" is an effective therapeutic treatment for
deep and superficial fascial release, restoring proper fascial planes for
optimal physiologic functioning.
Neuromuscular Therapy (NMT) - a comprehensive program of soft
tissue manipulation that balances the body's central nervous system with
the musculoskeletal system. The goal is to relieve the pain and
dysfunction by alleviating the underlying cause. It aims to relax muscle
and release compressed nerves so that circulation can increase and the
body will return to normal neuromuscular integrity and balance.
Muscle Energy Technique (MET) - utilizes neurophysiological muscle
reflexes to improve functional mobility of the joints. MET uses active
muscle contractions followed by relaxation to increase range of motion
(ROM) of the related joints.
Myofascial Release -used to evaluate and treat restrictions in the
body's muscles and fascia by the application of gentle traction, pressures
and positioning.
Soft Tissue Release (STR) - a powerful sports injury treatment technique that deals directly with the reasons
for soft tissue dysfunctions and subsequent referred pain and nerve entrapment.
Trigger Point Therapy - a pain-relief technique to alleviate muscle spasms and cramping. The therapist
locates and deactivates 'trigger points', which are often tender areas where muscles have been damaged or
have acquired a recurring spasm or 'kink' that worsens painfully when aggravated.
Augmented Soft Tissue Mobilization (ASTM) - A method of lengthening shortened muscles and relieving
entrapment of nerves. Also releases adhesions in soft tissues and can help break down scar tissue.
Muscle Therapy - The Pfrimmer Technique is the original deep muscle therapy which causes corrective
changes in the muscle on a cellular level.
Pfrimmer Deep Muscle Therapy works for the correction and prevention of serious muscle conditions such as
ALS, MS, MD, Parkinsons, CP, brain injury and stroke. It has also been effective in alleviating sports injuries,
trauma, occupational stresses, arthritis, fibrositis, backache, neck tension, chronic fatigue syndrome,
constipation and circulatory problems, to name a few.
All of the "Muscle Therapy" techniques are part of a comprehensive program that the client becomes a
participant in, learning how to manage his/her own program. This can become part of your ProActive lifestyle
management program we are promoting here at Spiece.
